102nd DS

Season Greetings from my friend in Japan! There's something about the reindeer that I really like, must be the antlers. Antlers are awesome.

Received: 22.12.2014

And a cute frog cancel :D

2nd Mystical Owl card :D 4 more to go! This one is the Druid, the idea of the "druid" always conjures up a wise but magical person. Really druids were people who held higher educational occupations such as doctor or lawyer in Celtic societies. I read up on this recently, didn't think it would come in handy now :P

Ohhh new Ukrainian stamp for me (the red leaf)!

"Ovm Strata," Graphite & Digital, 4683 x 8332 PX, 2010. James Jean

More love from the "Taking out the trash x 4 NA tag." Here we have a lot of funky cards by the same artist, luckily I don't have any of these. It's just a matter of finding someone to send them to!

Seasonal Flavours / Photo by Nina Panina

I don't usually receive cards when I participate in the "20 Questions tag" but for once I did receive one which was nice. It's not my favourite tag but it's nice to do sometimes. Also this is a nice festive card too, I still don't get the association with oranges and Christmas though.

More surprises

Artwork inspired by the Berlin Wall Gallery, A Barrier That Could Block Information
The Berlin Wall Gallery at Newseum tells the story of how news and information helped topple a closed and oppressive society and contains the largest display of unaltered portions of the original wall outside of Germany

This looks like it will be my last card from my friend living in Washington, quite an interesting piece of art.

Rudolph is relatively visible too!

Actually I'm quite different, but only rarely

I think I found my new favourite tag :D This interesting Santa card came from the "Feminist Tag." Now we all know how Santa "relaxes" when it isn't Christmas! XD

Also the last sentence was very tricky to translate, it literally says "I come only so rarely for it" but it seems awkward. In the end I concluded that Santa has very little time to be "different" and went with "but only rarely" as the translation.

So this lovely man is a German comedian from Saarland and goes by the stage name: Elfriede Grimmelwiedisch (try saying that three times fast.) When I asked for cards that played with gender, this certainly was a good choice!

Bari
St. Nicholas Church. The Nave.

The sender went to Italy not too long ago and sent me this card, I'm not sure if she had visited Bari but I do know she went to Rome.

Received: 16.12.2014

Some extras, including a train ticket from Rome

Oh these penguins! XD Just an ad for the newest movie (I really like this layout.)

Christmas Greetings :)

Received a Christmas card from one of my friends in BC, she knows I'm such a bird lover :3 Seriously that cardinal is just lovely.

Here we have an interesting painting for Poland, not quite sure why the horse is going crazy, but it explains the title of the painting though.

Some extra stamps from Poland :D

Horseshoe Bay
Bermuda

I didn't realize this would be #100! Very nice, but yes my first card from Bermuda arranged via swap with another Canadian postcrosser that went to visit. Lucky her getting away from all this winter!

Common Loon (Gavia immer)
The common loon is well known for its haunting and mournful call. It has been described as "the sound that more than any other typifies the wilderness." It is a powerful diver occasionally submerging to a depth of 200 feet under the surface. A dive will last no longer than 30 seconds, but it has been known to stay under as long as two or three minutes.

Ah the loon, if there isn't a more Canadian bird (well actually the Canadian Goose probably?) I say this because this bird is on our one dollar coin.

The Santa cancel came out rather nicely

My first DS from the Facebook group, I really love this card. It's very silly, and I would like to think it's Lolong in Crocodile Heaven XD

And here we have a moose from the "translation tag." Gotta love moose, especially if you're Canadian. It's like a rule, eh. XD

This time I remembered the words! We have English to Spanish this time around.

Ah, there were so many snails and slugs in Berlin.  I experienced the unpleasantness of having stepped on one, yup not that great. Alberta is far too dry to have little guys like the one in the card running (ah they don't do much of that do they? XD) around.

Greetings from Bielefeld

I learned recently about the "Bielefeld Conspiracy." In all fairness, aside from the sender, I don't know anyone from there, I have never been there and I don't know anyone who has been there XD I thought the name of this town seemed familiar when I received this card.

Oh Dallas, how you are so much like Alberta (geography wise.) When I landed there for my layover, it was like I never left Canada. The only difference was that American dollars were used and everything was indeed bigger XD

Wow, that's a hellva creepy clown

Another nice anime-themed card from Japan, it makes me wish I was at the beach too :/ And sadly the card must have got caught on something because I found it rolled up a bit. I had to hold it down to make a decent photo of it (see my fingers?)

GRC: 3

The statue, at Winnipeg's Assiniboine Park Zoo, commemorates Lt. Colebourn and his love for animals, but one bear in particular. A real bear cub saved by Lt. Colebourn, went on to inspire one of the world's most famous and cherished children's characters. Named Winnie after Lt. Colebourn's hometown of Winnipeg, the cub was to have been returned to the Assiniboine Park Zoo. Due to the war, Winnie stayed in the London Zoo, where children's author A.A. Milen and E.H. Shepard were inspired by him and went on to create the cherished Winnie the Pooh stories.

Well that was a lot of info, either way received this GRC card for the sender having a card sent to Kazakhstan with 951 users.
